Buffalo State Remembers our Fallen Bengals

Buffalo State University dedicates this page to the Bengals who’ve passed away while enrolled at Buffalo State. Every student contributes in no small measure to the Buffalo State community. Beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year, we list the names of those students who’ve fallen. We hope that this page serves as a place for family, friends, fellow students, faculty, and staff to honor their memory and celebrate their lives.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service

Beginning in 2002, Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff have come together to celebrate the lives and memories of those who have passed away during the last year. This event is a meaningful tradition at Buffalo State that provides a forum to remember those members of our Buffalo State community who are no longer with us. This nondenominational, spiritual celebration honors their lives through music, readings, and the lighting of candles. The name of each Fallen Bengal will be read aloud, followed by the ringing of our memorial bell.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service is coordinated by the Dean of Students Office and Weigel Wellness Center. If you are aware of a campus member who has passed away this year, and if you would like to add their name to the list of remembrances for this year, please e-mail the Dean of Students office at deanofstudents@buffalostate.edu with the relevant information.

Please complete this form to Light a Candle for a Fallen Bengal.

The 2025 Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Monday, April 21st, from 2-3 p.m. in the Social Hall within the Campbell Student Union.

Celebration of Life 2021 Recording

Buffalo State is committed to assisting its students and employees affected by losses, trauma or critical incidents that occur on campus or have an impact on the campus community.  The Counseling Center can provide support and intervention to assist those impacted by a loss or traumatic event in order to return to their work and school related activities and minimize any long-term negative effect of the incident. We build on your resilience factors, helping you deal with difficult situations.
