The Care Team is chaired by the Dean of Students and co-chaired by the Director of Care and Support. It also involves representatives from across campus, including Student Care and Support, Counseling Center, Athletics, Health Center, Student Conduct & Community Standards, Advising, University Police, Educational Opportunity Program, Roar 2 Success, Residence Life, Student Accessibility Services, and Academic departments.
Care Team case managers are trained in best practices by the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA).
We provide consultation to individuals who are supporting students, as well as direct intervention with students in crisis. We also collect information via FYI reports so that information can be shared with concerned parties to provide the care and services our students need.
The Care Team is available for workshops and presentations covering our services, process, and additional resources. If you would like to request a presentation or workshop, please reach out to the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@buffalostate.edu.
The Care Team receives referrals during normal business hours and is not an emergency response. If the concern is immediate, contact University Police at (716) 878-6333 for on-campus incidents or local police for off-campus concerns. The National Lifeline is also available by calling or texting 988.
